The Central Horticultural Experiment Station (CHES), ICAR-IIHR, Bhubaneswar organized a three-day training programme on “Canopy Management and Quality Planting Material Production in Horticultural Crops” in collaboration with National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Bhubaneswar from 11th to 13th October 2023. The training was attended by 30 farmers from 10 districts of Odisha and BSc (Ag.) final year students from Siksha-o-Anusandhan University, Bhubaneswar. The chief guest Dr. B.B. Sahoo, General Manager, NABARD, appreciated the efforts of CHES for dissemination of horticultural technologies to the farmers for doubling their income through adoption of scientific cultivation of horticultural crops. The farmers were trained on various aspects of canopy management and quality planting materials production in horticultural crops through a series of lectures and hands-on training. Resource persons from CHES (scientific and technical staff), ICAR-RCCTCRI and OUAT provided classroom lectures to the trainees. The valedictory programme was held on 13th October 2023 in the presence of officials from NABARD (Dr. Sudhanshu K. K. Mishra, Chief General Manager and Mr. S R Panda, General Manager and Mrs. Anamika Panda, Assistant General Manager) and Dr G.C. Acharya, Principal Scientist and Head, CHES, Bhubaneswar, wherein the feedback from the participants was taken. Farmers expressed their satisfaction about the training programme. Planting materials of mango and bael were distributed to the trainees by the chief guest and head of the station. Dr G. C. Acharya, Head of the station acted as course director and the programme was coordinated by Dr. Deepa Samant, Senior Scientist and Dr. A.V. V. Koundinya, Scientist.
