Webinar on Variety Technology Identification Committee meeting held on 16-06-2020 and 17-06-2020

A webinar was conducted on 16-06-2020 at 2.00 PM and 17-06-2020 at 3.00 PM to consider the proposals on Bitter Gourd RTS juice, Butter fruit Spread, Butter fruit Chutney, Liquid Nutrient Formulation for Soilless Vegetable Production and one Gerbera variety for identification by VTIC at institute level. The meeting was chaired by Dr. M.R. Dinesh, the Director, ICAR-IIHR and Chairman VTIC and around 40 scientists of the institute were participated. 

At the outset, Dr Raghu, B.R. Nodal Officer, VTIC, welcomed the Chairman and all the members to the meeting. The Nodal officer, Dr M. R. Dinesh has invited Dr. Aswath C., PS & Head, Division of Flower and Medicinal Crops to present the proposals on newly bred gerbera variety. After presentation and thorough discussion, the gerbera variety was identified for release at institute level in the name Arka Red. Then, the Nodal officer has invited Dr Ranjitha K., Scientist, Division of PHT & AE to present the proposals on Bitter Gourd RTS juice, Butter fruit spread, Butter fruit chutney. After presentation and thorough discussion, the technologies Bitter Gourd RTS juice, Butter fruit spread, Butter fruit Chutney were identified for commercialization as Arka Haagalarasa, Avocado Spread and Avocado Chutney, respectively. Later on 17/06/2020 at 3.00 PM, Dr. Kalaivanan D., Scientist, Division of Natural Resources presented proposal on Nutrient Formulation for Soilless Vegetable Production. After presentation and thorough discussion, the technology was identified for commercialization as Arka Nutri Grow. The meeting ended with vote of thanks by Dr Raghu, B.R.
