As per the directives of the Council, the ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, organised World Water Day Programme on 22nd March 2021 at its premsis
The programme was attended by the farmers from Kortagere Taluk of Tumkur District and Bangalore North Taluk of Bangalore district.
Over 40 selected students from four different schools namely Vivekanada High School, St Anne’s High School, National Public School Hessarghatta and Shree Ram Global School, Rajankunte, Bangalore North Taluk of Bangalore district attended the programme
Dr. Sooryanarayana Consultant, Central Ground Water Board, Bengaluru was the Chief guest for the function, who spoke on the theme “Valuing Water” in the presentation through powerpoint. He highlighted judicious use of water and the differenent uses of water and sustenance of life and protection of environment through water. He also highlighted on integrated water development and also offered a pledge for the saving of water to all the participants.
Dr M R Dinesh, Director of the Institute highlighted importance of water and ways and means of conserving the same.Earlier Dr S Shankar Hebbar, Principal Scientist, Division of Vegetable Crops presented a lecture focusing on the theme on “Valuing Water” especially in Horticulture.
Dr. B.L.Manjunath, Principal Scientist, Division of Fruit Crops, welcomed the gathering.
Dr. Anil Kumar Nair, Principal Scientist, Division of Vegetable Crops conducted Quiz programme on the topic “Water” for students of participating school and also proposed Vote of Thanks.
