ARKA DAKSHA is a pure line selection with bold black seeds with brown mottling and yields 3.5 to 4 t/ha (under support), 1.8 to 2.2 t/ha without support with L-dopa content (3.72%) and L -dopa yield (150.39 kg/ha). It matures in 150 to 160 days.



ARKA SHUKLA is a pure line selection with white medium bold size seeds. It gives a seed yield of 3.0 to 3.5 t/ha under support, 2.0 t/ha under surface cultivation with an L dopa content & yield of 3.86%. It matures in 155-165 days.


ARKA SHUBRA is a pedigree selection is a white seeded line with high seed yield (4.5 to 5.5 t/ha under support, 2.25 to 2.75 t/ha under surface cultivation), high L dopa content & yield (5.43%; 269.67 kg/ha) with non irritant trichomes on pods. It matures in 180-190 days.



ARKA CHARAKA is a pedigree selection with black shiny seeded line with high seed yield (4.0 to 4.25 t/ha under support,   2.0 to 2.25 t/ha under surface cultivation), high L dopa content & yield (4.80%; 200 kg/ha) and non irritant trichomes on pods. It matures in 155-165 days.



25 Management of Diamond Back Moth (DBM) and Aphids in cabbage using Neem Seed Powder Pellets (NSPP)

Diamond Back Moth (DBM) Plutella xylostella  and aphid Brevicoryne brassicae are the two important pests of cabbage . Neem seed powder extract is effective for the management of several insect pests of vegetable crops including these pests.  The main limitation for using neem seed powder is cumbersome and time-consuming process of its preparation. The resulting extract is highly unstable and needs to be utilized in a very short period. Hence, it was contemplated to develop ready to use neem seed powder pellet so that these impediments can be overcome.


Arka High Humidity storage box  designed  and developed by ICAR-IIHR maintains higher relative humidity needed by green leafy vegetables to retain freshness. Green leafy vegetables such as Amaranthus, Palak, Fenugreek, Mint and Coriander stored in Arka High Humidity storage box had higher freshness, lesser physiological loss in weight (PLW%), lesser spoilage.

27 Minimally Processed Onion Technology:

Onion (Allium cepa L.) finds an important place in every culinary preparation. Peeling and cutting of onion are time consuming process. Minimally processed onion is 100 per cent usable and packed ready-to-cook product maintaining flavour and freshness and offering convenience to the end user in preparation of culinary recipes. Presently only ready-to-cook peeled multiplier onion is available in market which has a limited shelf life (2-3 day only).

28 Arka Poorna

This variety is developed from the progeny selection of the cross Purple local X Allahabad Safeda.  The plants are semi- vigorous in growth habit with prolific bearing, hence suitable for medium to high density planting. The fruits are round, medium to big in  size ( 200-230 g) with smooth, shiny pericarp. The pulp is firm, white with thick outer rind, good flavour, TSS ( 10-12 0 B) , ascorbic acid ( 190-198 mg/100 g) , medium soft seeds (  10 .0  to 12.0 kg /cm2 ) and keeping quality.
