The ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Institute (IIHR) Bengaluru organized training programme on “ICAR-IIHR Technologies” at Kodaikanal for the tribal farmers of Kodaikanal district of Tamil Nadu under TSP programme from 25thAugust, 2024. The programme started with welcome address by Dr. Rajangam, Dean, HC&RI, Periyakulam. The programme was inaugurated by Honourable DDG (Hort.) Dr.S.K.Singh, ICAR, New Delhi. The DDG emphasized the use of various farmers friendly ICAR-IIHR technologies for doubling the income. Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist and Member of TSP Programme of the project. Dr. V. Sankar, Principal Scientist explained suitable ICAR-IIHR technologies for tribal farmers of Kodaikanal hills including vegetables, fruits, flowers, medicinal plants, bio fertilizers and bio pesticides. The beneficiary farmers were taken to the various demonstration blocks, Orchard, Nursery unit of TNAU-HRS, Kodai hills. Farmer scientist interaction meeting was also held. This programme was attended by 70 tribal farmersof various parts of the Dindigul district of upper pulney hills along with staff of HFRS, Kodaikanal.
