Organic production of Coleus
It involves growing leguminous crops such as Sunhemp for 45 days and incorporating into soil to improve soil fertility. Three weeks later Nitrogen through FYM @ 80 kg/ha was applied at the time of land preparation. Nursery was raised with terminal cuttings and planted in enriched FYM with Trichoderma @ 1kg/1000 kg of FYM. Forty day old rooted cuttings were planted with a spacing of 60x40 cm2 in a raised bed with drip irrigation. Crop was harvested 180 days after planting and a dry tuberous root yield of 1851 kg/ha and a B:C ratio of 2.625 (mean of 2 years) was obtained. There was drastic reduction in wilt as well as nematode infestation.
