An off-campus training programme was organised for the members of Venugopala Swamy Hoticulture Farmers Producers Company Limited, Hoskote on 06.01.2022 under RKVY project, wherein nearly 40 farmers participated. Knowledge about cultivation of new cultivars of tomato through seedlings, Arka Microbial Consortium, Neem Soap, Pongamia Soap and Arka vegetable special micronutrient spray, etc., was imparted to the participants. Earlier, there were visits to fields wherein tomato varities such as Arka Apeksha, Arka Visesh were planted through seedlings.
During the training, Mr. Venkatta Ramanappa, CEO, of the FPO extended welcome address. Then Dr. M. Senthil Kumar, Scientist, Division of Vegetables, ICAR-IIHR, spoke about the IIHR Vegetable technologies. Dr. Pitchaimuthu. M, Principal Scientist, Division of Vegetables, ICAR-IIHR, spoke about IIHR technologies and about Arka Veera Cucumber variety. Then Dr. Venkattakumar, Principal Scientist and Head (I/C), Division of Social Sciences and Training, ICAR-IIHR and PI of the RKVY project, spoke about RKVY project, extension sciences and NHF-2022 of ICAR-IIHR. Then Board of Directors of the FPO, Mr. Anand, Mr. Venkatesh and Mrs. Nagalakshmamma, spoke about their needs from ICAR-IIHR. They expressed that, this type of programmes to be organised very frequently, so that the FPO members will support ICAR-IIHR in spreading the technologies through village adoption mode. Dr. Pitchaimuthu. M, distributed the seeds of Arka Veera to needy and interested farmers. The meeting came to an end with the formal vote of thanks proposed by Mr. Venkatraman, CEO, of the FPO.
