The ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research (IIHR) Bengaluru organized off campus training programme on “ICAR-IIHR Technologies” at Thoothukudi for the tribal farmers of Thoothukudi districts of Tamil Nadu as part of TSP programme from 25th August, 2024. The welcome address was given by Dr.V. Palanichamy Senior Scientist and Head KVK, Thoothukudi. The programme was inaugurated by honourable DDG (Hort.) Dr. S. K. Singh, ICAR, New Delhi. He emphasized the importance of various farmer friendly ICAR-IIHR technologies for doubling the income. Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist and Dr V. Sankar, Principal Scientist explained about suitable ICAR-IIHR technologies for tribal farmers of Thoothukudi including vegetables, fruits, flowers, medicinal plants, bio fertilizers and bio pesticides. The beneficiary farmers were taken to the various demonstration block, orchards, Nursery unit of KVK, Thoothukudi. Farmer scientist interaction meeting was held. The programme was attended by 60 Tribal farmers from various parts of the Thoothukudi district along with staff of KVK and trainee students.
