The National Horticulture Fair 2023 a grand success

The concluding day of NHF 2023 (25.2.2023) witnessed extensive participation of farmers from southern states, entrepreneurs and city crowd. More than 25000 participants attended the event, including farmers from various states and students from schools and colleges, totally in four days from 22-25th nearly 60000 people participated in the event. A field demonstration on use of drones (about 80 flights) in agricultural fields was organized by the Crop Protection division, which was witnessed by more than 4000 people. Thirty registered participants attended the hands-on training program on Hi-Tech farming Techniques (Hydroponics, Aeroponics, Aquaponics, Vertical farming), conducted at the Centre of Excellence in collaboration with Society for the Promotion of Horticulture (SPH), a total of 100 people got benefitted from the workshop in four days. About 500 farmers undergone consultancy services, in total more than thousand farmers received one to one consultancy. The IIHR stall sales of seeds and planting materials exceeded Rs. 5 Lakh whereas the overall transactions of four-day event including private stalls exceeded Rs. 3 crores. The valedictory function was held around 3 pm Dr. Suresha, S.V., Vice Chancellor, UAS, GKVK, Bangalore was the Chief Guest,while Shri. Chetan Singh Rathore, IPS, RFFRO was the Guest of Honour. Dr. S.V. Suresha, appreciated the efforts of the institutes in reaching out the technologies to the farmers and other stakeholders through NHF2023. Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director, ICAR-IIHR, Dr. C. Aswath, Vice President, SPH and Dr. R. Venkattakumar, Organizing Secretary, NHF2023 also graced the event.  During the event, seven progressive farmers were felicitated for their immense contribution to horticulture sector. The awardee farmers include Mr. Binod Swain from Odisha, Mrs. G.N. Shashikala from Mandya, Mr. Suresh from Chikballapur, Mr. G.R. Dhananjaya from Hobli, Mr.K.S.Muthanna from Bengaluru, Mr. D.K. Manjunath from Udupi and Mr.C. Mohammed from Lakshadweep. Further, MoUs were exchanged with M/s. Indo-American Hybrid Seeds (India) Pvt. Ltd. (Chilli MS line production), M/s. Ranjeeta’s Agri Foods Health & Hygiene Pvt. Ltd. (Arka Humidity Storage Box), M/s. Ecophytocare India Pvt. Ltd. (Mucuna variety Arka Shubra seed production) and M/s. Devbhoomi Enterprises (Mango variety Arka Suprabhath production). Seven publications on different aspects of Horticulture were also released during the event. Certificates were distributed to school children for millet poster presentation and best exhibition stalls under different categories were awarded with certificates. Under the Government Department stalls, Directorate of Horticulture and Farm Forestry Chhattisgarh, won the first place, while second place was bagged by Horticulture Department, Telangana; third place was shared by University of Horticultural Sciences, Bagalkot and Department of Fruit Science, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. Among the Agri Inputs stalls, first place went to Indo-American Hybrid Seeds, Bengaluru; second place shared by Multiplex Biotech (P) Ltd., Bengaluru and Akshayakalpa Farms & Foods (P) Ltd., Bengaluru; the third place was shared by Ecophytocare India (P). Ltd., Mysuru, Arekal Organics & Biofertilizers (P) Ltd., Bengaluru and Amrutha Organics. Under the Plant Nursery/Machinery/others, Zentron Lab (P) Ltd. bagged the first place; second place shared by Bangalore Nursery and Benaka Nursery & Landscape, Bengaluru; third place shared by Somey’s Kitchen (P) Ltd. and Ananya Dry Flowers, Bengaluru. ICAR-IISR, Regional Station, Appangala was the best stall among the ICAR Institutes category while ICAR-NRC Banana Trichy & ICAR CPRI Regional Station, Ooty shared the second place and KVK, Mudigere, UAHS, Shivamogga won the third place. The service providers viz., Police, Traffic police, Fire & Safety and Ambulance service were felicitated and the program was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. R.
