Central Horticultural Experiment Station (CHES, ICAR-IIHR), Bhubaneswar in collaboration with Farmers’ training School, PPL organized one day farmers’ Orientation training camp at Bankoi village under Bolgarh block of Khurda district on 09.12.2020. The Kaunri Women Farmers’ Producer Organization in association with NIGAM NGO was arranged the training program on “Profitable High Value Vegetable Cultivation”. In this training programme, Dr. Gobinda Ch. Acharya, Head-CHES, Dr. Manas R. Sahoo, Principal Scientist, CHES, and the officials of Paparadeep Phosphate Ltd, Mr. Biswajit Nanda, DGM, Mr. Sunil Sahoo, MDO and Suruanayayan Mohapatra, Marketing Manager, were attended and discussed on the overall development of Farmers’ producer based agricultural activities. Dr Gobinda Ch Acharya, emphasized on the importance of FPOs for the benefit of the farming community and briefed about the potential technologies developed at ICAR-IIHR suitable for the state. Dr. Manas R. Sahoo, PS briefed about the importance of mixed/relay cropping in vegetables for higher profitability. Mr. Biswajit Nanda, DGM, PPL highlighted the initiatives taken by PPL for the benefit of the farming community. Local Gram Panchayat Sarpanch Mrs.Gitanjali Pradhan presided the proramme and encouraged the farmers to get the benefits of the FPO Membership. Approximately 50 nos of farmers and farmwomen from the nearby villages of Bankoi GP were participated in the day-long training programme.
