A special day long (12th April 2021) off-campus training was organized by ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru in collaboration with ATARI, Bengaluru at KVK, Kavarati island of Lakshadweep on farmer friendly technologies of ICAR-IIHR. The lecture was delivered by Dr R Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist, Division of Social sciences and Training, ICAR-IIHR. The programmes was attended by all KVK staff and line department officials. Dr V Venkatasubramnaian, Director ATARI, inaugurated the programme. During the discussion, it was suggested that adopt five islands in order to demonstrate selected ICAR-IIHR fruit, vegetable and ornamentals crops technologies. It was also decided that 20 farmers will be selected and commodity interest groups will be formed and need-based ICAR-IIHR technologies will be distributed under TSP component. Dr PN Ananth, the Programme Coordinator of the KVK and his team expressed their interest in demonstrating fruit crop technologies such as Arka Kiran, Arka Sahan and Arka Prabath, technologies of vegetable crops (Tomato, Brinjal , Chillies and Okra), ornamental crops (Marigold, Crossandra and Tuberose) and Arka Microbial Consortia. Dr Ananth proposed a formal vote of thanks.
