ICAR-IIHR-Central Horticultural Experiment Station, Bhubaneswar observed ‘Hindi Week’ during 14th- 21st September, 2021. Mrs. Abha Mishra, Head, United Nations Development Programme, Odisha Office, Bhubaneswar inaugurated the programme on 14th September, 2021. Dr. G.C. Acharya, Head, CHES, Bhubaneswar addressed the staff about the importance, necessity and scope of Hindi language in day-to-day official work. Dr. Deepa Samant, Scientist and Nodal Officer, Official Language Implementation gave a brief account of various activities to be carried out during ‘Hindi Week’ celebration. Various competitions viz., Hindi dictation, Hindi essay, Quiz, Hindi poem recitation, Hindi song, and Antakshyari were organized for the office staff and outsourced and project workers of the station. The valedictory function of ‘Hindi Week’ was held on 21st September, 2021. Dr. Anil Kumar, Director, ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar graced the occasion as Chief Guest and distributed prizes to the winners and participants of different competitions. Sri Biswanath Paikray, Smt. Rina Pattnayak, and Smt. Madhuri Pattanaik won the first prize in dictation, quiz, and singing, respectively. Smt. Suchitra Behera was placed first in essay writing and poem recitation events. Hindi Incentive Award was given to Mrs. Suvasini Pradhan for the use of hindi language in official work. Sri Ashok Kumar Durga and Smt. Annapurna Behera proposed the vote of thanks at the end of the inaugural and valedictory function of Hindi Week, respectively. The ‘Hindi week’ celebration programme was coordinated by Dr. Deepa Samant, Scientist & Nodal Officer, Implementation of Official Language with support from members of the committee.
