“Hindi Week (Sapthaah)” was celebrated at Central Horticultural Experiment Station, ICAR-IIHR, Chettalli, Kodagu, Karnataka during 16-21st September, 2021. The inauguration function of the Hindi Week Programme was organized on 16th September, 2021. Dr. A.T. Rani, Scientist (Agricultural Entomology), Chairman, Hindi Week Organizing Committee welcomed the Head (I/c), CHES and the staff. Then Dr. S. Rajendiran, Scientist and Head (I/c), CHES, Chettalli, inaugurated the Hindi Sapthaah programme and he highlighted the significance of Hindi as national official language and its importance for development of society and also explained the importance and necessity of Hindi language in our daily life. Then he addressed the staff of the station to involve compulsory in the Hindi Week celebrations. Dr. A.T. Rani had briefed the events to be carried out during the Hindi Week. During this period, Hindi Sapthaah programme Organizing Committee: Dr. A.T. Rani (Scientist), Chairman, Mr. A.C. Madhav (Scientist), Member, Mr. Jagadish A.M., Member and Mrs. Lijina, A. (Technical Assistant) and Member Secretary, had arranged and conducted various competitions to the staff of the station. All the competitions were held in two categories i.e. in Category-I, Group A, B and C staffs (total- 6 Nos.) were involved and in Category-II, Group D staff (total 8 Nos.) were participated.
The several competitions viz., Dictation in Hindi, Meaning of Hindi words, writing Hindi Alphabets, Hindi Copy writing and Identification of things in Hindi activities were organized to the participants during 16-21st September, 2021. Valedictory function of a week-long event was organized on 21st September, 2021. Mr. Manoj, Hindi Teacher from Govt. High School, Chettalli graced the function as the Chief Guest and Mr. Satyanarayana, Head Master from Govt. High School, Chettalli was present as the Guest of Honour. Mr. A.C. Madhav, Scientist and Member, CHES, Chettalli welcomed the guests and the staff. The function was inaugurated by lighting the lamp. The guests and other speakers emphasized the importance of Hindi week celebration and role of Hindi in everyday life. Dr. A.T. Rani, Scientist and Chairman briefed the gathering about various activities and competitions held during “Hindi Week” celebration. The Chief Guest Mr. Manoj gave speech on the importance and value of Hindi in our society and emphasized to learn Hindi. Dr. S. Rajendiran, Scientist and Head (I/c), CHES, Chettalli, delivered the presidential address and congratulated all the staff for their active participation in different events. After the Presidential address, the guests were felicitated. At the end of programme, the prizes were distributed by the guests to the winners of various competitions and encouragement prizes were also distributed to all the participants. The valedictory function was concluded with the formal vote of thanks by Dr. A.T. Rani, Scientist. The programme was coordinated by Dr. A.T. Rani, Mr. A.C.
