Training program on Mobile Journalism (MOJO) was conducted from 26 to 28th Oct, 2023 (through Division of Social Sciences & Training, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru in collaboration with the MANAGE, Hyderabad. It was done to develop awareness on Mobile Journalism-Philosophy and Methods, to orient the scope of Mobile Journalism as a strategy to spread Agricultural Science among stake holders and for developing Mobile Journalism modules for farmers,startups, standups and FPOs. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. S. K Singh, Director, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru. Dr. V.K.J Rao, Incharge Head &Principal Scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training, ICAR-IIHR, welcomed everyone with the introductory note and Dr. Ramya H.R (Scientist) explained about objective and agenda of the training in the introduction. Dr. S. K Singh, Director, ICAR-IIHR, in his presidential address emphaized the importance and scope of mobile journalism in horticulture and on various improved mobile Technologies. He ensured all the training needs felt by trainees will be fulfilled and briefed on additional skills required to spread the technologies through Mobile platforms, at a faster and cost effective manner to reach the stake holders in the shortest possible time, and motivated the participants for effective utilization of training with supportive network between IIHR Scientists.
The training was coordinated by Dr. V.K.J Rao, Incharge Head &Principal Scientistand Dr. Ramya H. R, Scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru. A total of twenty seven trainees actively participated in training in a hybrid mode (both in online & offline) from different states of the country. During three day programme, twelve different technical sessions were organized covering the topics such as Mobile Journalism-Foundations for Digital Agriculture, From Newsrooms to Smartphones: Mobile Journalism (MOJO's) Influence on Journalism, Content development for Mainstream media with emphasis on Mobile Journalism, Strategies for Agricultural Video production through Mobile Application, Digital Mobile Marketing Communication design, Case studieson Digital Mobile Marketing Communication implementation, Arka Samachar for YouTube broadcasting- streaming on Mobile, Web applications for horticulture crop production, Mobile applications for horticulture crop production and Editing for Mobile Journalism.At the end of each session, participants interacted with the scientists and asked various queries and got detailed explanations. On 28/11/2023 the valedictory program was conducted at 4:00 pm and it was chaired by Prof. S. K Singh, Director, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru. The feedbacks from the trainees were recorded and certificates on completion of training were issued to the participants.
