Capacity building and input distribution programme of rose variety Arka Savi was organized as part of TSP project of ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru on 3rd November 2023. Twelve ST farmers (eight from Badavanahalli, Madhugiri Taluk and three from Y N Hoskote, Pavagadataluk, Tumakuru District), who are interested in cultivation of Arka Savi, participated in the training along with CEOs and Directors of Farmers Producers Organisation (FPO). Dr.Bhagyasree S N, Scientist & Member of TSP welcomed the gathering and elucidated the role of TSP programmes in serving the farming community through agricultural extension activities. In the beginning, Dr Tejaswini Prakash, Principal Scientist had one to one interaction with farmers related to flower crops, economic benefits, cultivation practices and marketing of Rose. Mr. Cheluva Raj, Technical staff, Division of Flowers and medicinal crops had practically shown and explained on planting, spacing, pruning, fertiliser application, pest management and harvesting in rose field. Dr. V Sankar, Principal Scientist and Nodal Officer of TSP thanked the gathering and distributed 1000 Arka Savi planting material to each tribal farmer in the event.
