Off-campus training programme on ICAR-IIHR technologies was organized by ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru for the beneficiaries from TSP Project at ICAR-KVK-Karamadai, Coimbatore District, Tamil Nadu. The inputs were distributed to identified tribal beneficiaries. The programme started with welcome address by Mr. M. Sagadevan, SMS (Hort) followed by Presidential address given by Dr P. Kumaravadivelu, Head ICAR-KVK, Karamadai. The Chief guest was Dr. C. Indu Rani, Professor and Head, Department of vegetable crops, HC&RI, TNAU, Coimbatore. The technical session was started with presentation on ICAR-IIHR fruit crop technologies by Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist. Dr. V. Sankar, Principal Scientist explained about ICAR-IIHR vegetable varieties/hybrids and crop technologies suitable for Coimbatore district. At the end of technical session, ICAR-IIHR varieties of Amaranthus (Arka Suguna), Chilli (Arka Meghna), Dolichos (ArkaSambhram), Palak (Arka Anupama), Ridge gourd (Arka Vikram), Water melon (Arka Shyama), Musk melon (Arka Siri), avocado and jack, and seeds of Mucuna (Arka Shubra) and guava rooted cuttings (Arka Kiran) were distributed to identified beneficiaries of Karamadai block of Coimbatore district. This whole training programme and input distribution was arranged and coordinated by V. Sankar Principal Scientist and Dr. R. Senthil Kumar, Principal scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training, ICAR-IIHR. About 70 beneficiaries participated in the programme. Five officials from Department of Horticulture, Government of Tamil Nadu and KVK-Karamadai, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu also participated.
