Designation:
Senior Scientist
Division/Section:
Division of Basic Sciences
Specialisation:
Agriculture Biotechnology
Qualification:
Ph.D
Research Accomplishments:
(During the Period of 2019-2023)
- Developed transgenic banana cv Rasthali and Grand naine with anti apoptosis gene constructs to impart fusarium wilt resistance.
- Arka Elakkibale suspension culture for mass multiplication of banana cv Elakkibale was commercialized to four tissue culture companies in Karnataka.
- Developed putative tomato cv Arka vikas using novel gene editing technology for jointless pedicel.
- Developed mutants of purple guava for Fusarium wilt resistance
- Large scale demonstration of elakki bananan plants derived from embryogenic cell suspension was taken up.
Varieties / Technologies Developed:
Arka Elakkibale suspension culture: The technology developed facilitates large scale multiplication of elakki bale planting material from embryogenic cell suspension (ECS) (@~1lakh plants per ideal embryogenic calli). The ECS is initiated from immature male floral meristems of banana cv elakki bale collected from a healthy mother plant.
