The Library at this Institute has been gradually developed in to an e-Library to serve the needs of the present generation information seekers. It is serving all the research community with the information at their desks. It has enhanced their timely usage of information to carry out the research work more efficiently. Library serves its users from 9 AM to 4 PM i.e. during office hours.
In the Institute research and Library are closely embedded for the better result. To supplement the research modern facilities are established by installing the latest infrastructure. Using this infrastructure all the Library activities are activated for the user community and an intranet is created with in the Library to facilitate for accessing Library information. The server is set up with all the databases in electronic form and disseminated with in the Institute to all the Departments through LAN. The staff would now access the literature at their desktops and effectively use the information in time for their research pursuits. Additionally, a facility has been created at the Library by setting up a pool of computers for the use of staff, academicians from different states, JRFs, SRFs, Ras, Students, Progressive farmers and visitors from across the country and abroad for browsing various information sites of internet, Library databases and resources.
Further, CeRA – ‘Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture’ funded by NAIP (National Agricultural Innovation Project, India) provides us access to about 2000+ journals (Electronic & Print) from the following participating publishers: Informatics, Springer, Annual Reviews, CSIRO (Australia), Taylor & Francis, Elsevier, Oxford University Press, American Society of Agronomy, Indian journals and ICAR & SAU Libraries subscribed journals. CeRA has got many facilities in it for information searching and accessing including full-text, ‘browsing Table of Content’, E-Mail alert for the journals chosen-subject selected under ‘My Journal’-head and Document delivery.
