The ICAR-IIHR has organized a Field Day on Arka Parimala and Arka Savi in the Kalkere village of Hosur district, Tamil Nadu on 13th September, 2024. The program was aimed at creating awareness about the advantages Arka Parimala and Arka Savi to the area of Hosur district. About 40 farmers from the surrounding villages attended the program. Dr. Tusar Kanti Behera, Director, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru presided over the programme and addressed the farmers emphasizing the importance of flowers especially ICAR-IIHR rose varieties. Dr. V K Jayaraghavendra Rao, Head (I/c), Division of Social Sciences and Training, explained the need for adoption of IIHR varieties, Dr. Naveen Kumar, Head, Division of Flower and Medicinal Crops, addressed about the need for the adoption of Flower crops to stabilize the livelihood of the farmers, Dr. Tejaswini, Principal Scientist, Division of Flower and Medicinal Crops, explained about the advantages of Arka Savi and Arka Parimala in the areas of Hosur, Dr. T H Singh, Principal Scientist, Division of Vegetable crops, and Nodal officer TSP explained about different activities under Tribal Sub Plan Project. Dr. Sankar V, Principal Scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training, explained about the advantages of adopting IIHR vegetable crop varieties, Dr. Senthil Kumar R, Principal Scientist, Division of Social Sciences and Training, explained about the advantages of adopting IIHR fruit crop varieties, Mr. Manjunatha Beneficiary farmer of Arka Parimala elaborated the market value and post harvest value of Arka Parimala and how the Arka Parimala helped the poor farmer to build their livelihood activities also increase standard of living in parts of Dharmapuri.
