Central Horticultural Experiment Station (ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research) Bhubaneswar celebrated its 31stFoundation Day on 6th November, 2023. The day long programme was started with a Free health Check-up camp organized by Institute of Medical Sciences & SUM Hospital, SoA deemed to be University from 10.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m that benefitted. More than 90 staff members. The Foundation Day celebration function was started with Vandana and lighting the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries followed by ICAR and IIHR song. A 3-minute video clip was also played during the programme
At the outset, two minute silence prayer was observed for the departed soul of Sri Ashok Kumar Durga, Technician of the station. Dr. G.C. Acharya, Head welcomed the guests and office staff present at the venue. While delivering the welcome address, he gave a brief account of achievements and activities of the station. He appreciated the hard work put up by the present and past employees, and other workers towards the development of the Station as a prestigious institution in the State.
Several staff members such as Dr P. Srinivas, Dr. Kundan Kishore, Dr. Satyapriya Singh, Dr P Naveen Kumar, Head, Div of Flower & Medicinal Crops, IIHR; Dr G Sangeetha, IIIHR, Dr (Mrs) Tejswini P, IIHR addressed during the occasion. Five farmers were felicitated for adoption and dissemination of IIHR technologies in the region. They were; Sri Subrat Kumar Das of Dhenkanaldist of Odisha, Sri G SarveswaraRao, from Rajahmundry, East Godavari, Sri M Vishnu Prasad of Rajahmundry, East Godavari, Sri Panchanan Behera from Dhenkanal, and Sri Mukesh Kumar Dhal of Kendrapada district of Odisha. The former staff of CHES, IIHR and guests in the dias were also felicitated during the Foundation Day programme. Guests of Honor; Dr. Goura Hari Naik, Former Head, CHES-IIHR, Dr M R Sahoo, Head, Div of Crop Improvement, ICAR-CTCRI, Dr K Lakshimanarayan, Head IC, ICAR-RC, CTCRI, Dr S Sriram, Head, Div of Crop Protection & Director I/C, ICAR-IIHR addressed the gathering during the programme. Prof (Dr) Ashok Kumar Mohapatra, Former Director, AIIMS-Bhubaneswar & Former Vice-Chancellor, Siksha Anusandhan Deemed to be University was the chief Guest of the programme.
All employee of CHES-IIHR, Scientists from ICAR-RC, CTCRI, farmers etc attended the programme. The foundation day program was co-ordinated by Sri M K Patanaik TO and IC, Staff welfare Committee with active support provided by Dr. P Srinivas, Dr. Kundan Kishore, Dr A V V Koundinya, Sri C S Durga, Mrs Rina Pattanaik, Sri A K Barik, Mrs. Suchitra Behra, Sri B C Patraand all staff of the station under the guidance of Head. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr Kundan Kishore and recitation of National Anthem. An hour-long cultural programme was organized by the staff of the station after the meeting.
