The blue bottle fly, Chrysomya megacephala Fab. (Diptera: Calliphoridae), is a major pollinator of mango and other horticultural crops. But in nature its populations are low and hence the present technology to rear this insect in large numbers for field release to get adequate pollination in mango orchards is developed. C. megacephala enhances mango fruit set by 50-60 per cent.
