Kisan Diwas (Farmers Day) 2019 was celebrated at ICAR-IIHR with great enthusiasm and spirit. On the occasion more than hundred farmers from MGMG villages and Tumkuru district participated. Two farmer representatives of the IIHR IMC Shri Shivaprasad from Tumkur and Dr Prabhakar from Bengaluru were guest of honour. On the occasion three farmers were felicitated for adopting and spreading IIHR technologies and thereby contributing to scientific horticulture in the country. The Director of the institute Dr M R Dinesh urged the farmers to adopt IIHR technologies for improving their income and lively wood, which was the dream of former prime minister of India and farmer leader late Shri Chaudhary Charan Singh ji. The Nodal officer Swachh Bharath Abhiyan Dr Nandeesha P explained on the significance of celebrating Farmers Day. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. R Venkat Kumar, Head Division of Social Sciences and training. The tribute to the Farming community was paid by playing Raitha Geethe at the end of the programme.
