A training program entitled "Canopy Management and Quality Planting Material Production in Horticultural Crops" was organized at CHES, IIHR, Bhubaneswar in collaboration with NABARD, Bhubaneswar during 22-24 November, 2023. About 30 farmers from Odisha state attended the training program that was aimed at providing participants with insights and hands-on experience in the latest techniques shaping the future of horticulture. Distinguished guests (Dr. Sudhansu K.K. Mishra: AGM, NABARD; Mr. Ravindra Hansdah, AGM, NABARD) emphasized the pivotal role of advanced canopy management and quality planting material production in shaping the future of horticulture. Resource persons from CHES, Bhubaneswar (Scientific and technical staffs), ICAR-CTCRI, Bhubaneswar and OUAT explained about the latest advancements, strategic insights, and sustainable practices crucial for elevating crop yield and quality. The heart of the program lay in its hands-on training sessions. Participants had the unique opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge into tangible practical skills at CHES Bhubaneswar's experimental plots and nurseries. From precision canopy management techniques to the intricacies of producing superior planting materials and sustainable production to strategic plant protection measures, attendees gained practical insights that are invaluable in real-world farming scenarios. The program was coordinated by Dr. Deepa Samant, Senior Scientist (Fruit Science) and Dr. Satyapriya Singh, Scientist (Agric. Entomology) under the guidance of Dr G C Acharya; Course Director & Head, CHES, IIHR Bhubaneswar.
