The Training cum Demonstration Programme on “Improved Production Technologies for Horticultural Crops was jointly organized by ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru and ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Idukki under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) Scheme of ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru for benefiting the tribal farmers of Aruvilamchal Hamlet in Nedumkandam block of Idukki district on 04.01.2024. The program was presided by Dr. R.Marimuthu, Senior Scientist and Head, ICAR-KVK Idukki. Smt. Manju Jincy Varghese, SMS (Soil Science) and Mr. S. Sudhakar, SMS (Plant Protection) of KVK also participated. Dr.G. Selvakumar, Principal Scientist (Agricultural Microbiology) briefed the major activities undertaken by ICAR-IIHR as part of tribal sub plan and explained about the microbial technologies developed at ICAR-IIHR. Dr. D. Kalaivanan, Senior Scientist (Soil Science) provided the training on soil health management and vegetable cultivation, and also explained about latest technologies and new varieties of ICAR-IIHR. Dr. R. Marimuthu, Head, KVK Idukki listed out the programme and demonstrations conducted by ICAR-IIHR in collaboration with ICAR-KVK, Idukki under TSP scheme. Mr. Mooppan and Mr Gopi, Tribal Development Officer also participated, The inputs like vegetable seed (Tomato, Chilli, Brinjal, Okra, Pumpkin, Yard Long Bean, Amaranthus, Dolichos, French bean, Bottle guard, Ridge guard, Coriander, Radish), Vegetable seed kit for nutri garden, planting material of fruit crops (Dragon fruit, Mango, Guava,Annona), bioinoculants (Pseudomonas and Paecilomyces), micronutrient mixture (Vegetable special), biopesticide (Neem soap), implements (Lemon harvester, Mango harvester) and Biofertilizers were provided to 102 tribal farmers of Aruvilamchal Hamlet in Idukki.
