Research Accomplishments: 

(During the Period of 2019-2023) 

  1. Developed two superior lines of Kalemgh with high andrographolide content and high biomass. 
  2. Isolated two elite lines with high biomass and high wedelolactone content in Bhringaraj.
  3. Promising lines in  Brahmi ( Bacopa monnieri) with high bacoside content are under trials.
  4. Developed superior hybrids in betelvine with resistance to powdery mildew and high leaf yield
  5. Successful production of  interspecific hybrids in betelvine with Piper colubrinum  with moderate resistance and  resistance to Phytophthora.
  6. Developed and validated new method for estimating wedelolactone content in Bhringaraj
  7. Developed and designed SSRs markers and  finger printing of  lines  in Betelvine and  Bhringaraj .
  8. Facilitated seed multiplication of  identified varieties of Velvet bean and Aswagandha through seed village concept and multiplying planting material of  more than sixty different herbs
Varieties / Technologies Developed: 

 

  1. Six superior non itchy lines with high seed yield and L dopa Content in Velvet bean
    (Mucuna pruriens var utilis) with varied crop duration and seed coat traits were identified for release from ICAR-IIHR . They are Arka Dhanvantari, Arka Aswini, Arka Daksha, Arka Charaka, Arka shubra, Arka Shukla well received by growers and Industry.
  2. Co developer of variety Arka Aswagandha a high root yielding line of Aswagandha
    (Withania somnifera) with higher chemical content is released from Institute
  3. Co developer of variety Aerobic rice Anagha BI-33 (ARB-6) is released and recommended for aerobic situation in zone 5 of Karnataka.
