China aster
- Three novel varieties viz., Arka Advika, Arka Nirali and Arka Shubhi suitable for for cut flower, flower arrangement, bouquet, have been developed and identified for release by institute VTIC.
- One loose flower and bedding variety Arka Archana have been Gazette notified.
- Three genetic stocks viz., IIHRV1, IIHRV2 and IIHRJ3-2 have been registered with ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi for their novel traits.
- Out of 36 F7 erect type lines evaluated for cut flower traits, pink flowered lines (15-41-3, 15-41-5 and 15-57-2A), purple/violet (15-32- 1A, 15-41-5A and 15-41-7) and white (15-42-3, 15-52- 1B and 15-57-7) were found promising for attractive unique flower colour, long sturdy flower stalk, more number of ray florets and vase life.
- Out of 47 F7 lines with checks across the flower colour and growth habits evaluated for loose flower yield, 10 F7 lines recorded more than 50 flowers per plant and high loose flower yield (>100 g/plant).
- Out of 24 F7 spreading type lines evaluated for bedding purpose, pink flowered lines (15-2-1, 15-16-4, 15-19-2, 15-30- 1 and 15-57-2), purple/violet (15-14-3 and 15-27-1) and white (15-14-2, 15-15-1 and 15-16-3) were found promising for early flowering, attractive flower colour and floriferousness.
Chrysanthemum
- Three varieties viz., Arka Anirudh, Arka Dhaval and Arka Manohar, suitable for pot culture and bedding, have been developed and identified by ITMC.
- Identified photo-insensitive genotypes viz., Arka Pink Star, Marigold, Pusa Anmol and Ajay.
- Three genetic stocks viz., IIHR4-8, IIHR2-16 and IIHR2-13 have been registered with ICAR-NBPGR, New Delhi for their novel traits.
- Four Chrysanthemum varieties viz., Arka Chandrika, Arka Kirti, Arka Usha Kiran and Arka Pink Star have been Gazette notified.
Varieties / Technologies Developed:
- Developed 5 varieties in China aster (Arka Archana, Arka Aadya, Arka Advika, Arka Nirali and Arka Shubhi) and 3 varieties in Chrysanthemum (Arka Anirudh, Arka Dhaval and Arka Manohar).
- Involved in the development of 5 varieties of gerbera (Arka Ashwa, Arka Nesara, Arka Pink, Arka Pink and Arka Red), 4 varieties in Gladiolus (Arka Aayush, Arka Pratham, Arka Manorama and Arka Ranjini) and 1 variety in Tuberose (Arka Keerthi).
